疎開先から見た青森空襲（Aomori air raid seen from the evacuation destination）

東岳村（現在の宮田・馬屋尻・矢田・滝沢地区）に疎開をしており、そこから青森空襲の惨状を見てしまいました。私は6歳だったけど、夢でも見ているのかと思って、自分の頬っぺたをつねってみたから、現実だったんだよね。

その日は蒸し暑い日だったので障子も襖も全部開けて、皆で縁側で夕涼みをしていたんだよね。そしてそろそろ寝なさいと言われて布団に横になろうかと思った時、青森の方から空襲警報のサイレンが聞こえて、家の中の人達が慌ただしく走り出して電気を消すと、辺りは一瞬にして真っ暗になり、自分は何が起こるんだろうと思っていたら、西側に見える青森の空の下から、サーチライトの光の光線が何本も見えて、それから遠い所で鳴る雷のような低い音の飛行機の音が聞こえて来たなと思ったら、大きな電球の玉のような明るい光が現れて、それが段々と下に落ちて行くと、その後空一面にパッ・パッ・パッと線香花火のような火花が散らばったと思ったら、それが消える前にまた別な方からパッ・パッ・パッと線香花火のような光が散らばって、線香花火だと消えるのにそれはずっと消えないで下まで落ちて、又上の方では線香花火のようにパーッと火花が散らばって、それはそれはきれいだったのだけど、下からめらめらと火の手が上がってしまい、それもあっちっこっちから一斉に上がるんだもの、ほとんど一瞬のうちに大火になってしまったのさ。

大人たちは声にもならない声をあげて見ていたけど、自分は何かわからないけど泣きながら誰かにしがみついていましたよ。叱られた訳でもなく叩かれた訳でもないから言葉では表現できなかったけど、子供ながらに恐怖と言う感じだったのだと思うよ。あんな光景はもう二度と見たくないよ。（絵・聞き書き：張山喜隆/平成29年3月）

Adults were watching with a voice that was not even a voice, but I did not know anything, but I kept clinging to someone while crying.
